Just rediscovered this book and reread it - What a great series! Joanne is a weather girl and weather warden - which means she has powers over the weather. But don't think this is some dark, "I have power and am invincible" thing - she is strong, yes, but vulnerable and in danger from day one. Very funny moments, interesting and intriguing. Well worth the time!

This book has some interesting world building, but the main character is a bit too much of a Mary Sue for me. I found it hard to get involved because she was kind of annoying. Many of the side characters were way more intriguing.

Nice start to the series. Good mix of real science and paranormal. Didn't think I was a fan of the whole Djinn thing, but I was wrong!

The Weather Warden series is one of my all time favorite fantasy series. It combines a little science and lot of fantasy. Joanne Baldwin is a weather warden. She is just one of many who try to control the weather to prevent disaster and keep the balance. In book one she is accused of killing her boss, so the other weather wardens are out to get her. And to top that off, she has been possessed by something dark and bad. What’s a girl to do? How about take a cross country road trip in a classic mustang to try to stop the evil? Staff picks 2008
