A quick read. Ellen is entertaining as always.
This book was so much fun! It had helpful and not-so-helpful advice thrown in among the hilarious and random things that only Ellen can pull off. From a colouring page of a filing cabinet to long tangents that have nothing to do with the chapter title, it's just a splendiforous read.
IM LIKE WATCHING HER SHOW 24/7! LOVE U ELLEN!!!! <3
I like Ellen, I really do ... but I found this book to be a waste of time. Not that funny, not that interesting, and not that engaging.
I certainly admire Ellen Degeneres, both as a person and as a comedian but, while "Seriously...I'm kidding" provides an antidote to daily stress, it fell short in the humour category. Degeneres melds bits of stand-up and random musings into a silly (not funny), structureless work. I did laugh out loud a few times and enjoyed reading her chapters with some substance (her experience on American Idol, why she and Portia won't have children) but, overall, a shallow and disappointing read.
This book was totally Ellen, but really had no plot, no story, no "meat". Somewhat disappointing in that respect.
Love her, but have never been so disappointed in a book. I've seen all of her stand-up routines, watch her show almost daily, but I actually skipped most of the book and if you read it, it's easy to do since the chapters are short with some simply being blank pages (and wasting trees, you'll see).
I really enjoyed this book! Ellen certainly has the gift of humour--I was laughing just reading the back cover! There are many moments when I actually did laugh out loud, it's that funny. It's definitely nothing serious (the title says it all!), but it's worth a read. If you're a fan of Ellen's stand-up comedy, you will enjoy this book!
Memoir of the actress, stand-up comic and TV host. Quite the life.
