Fourteen year-old Bobby Pendragon is getting ready for the championship basketball game when his Uncle Press shows up. Press tells Bobby that he has to come with him right away. Forget the game. Forget the girl he was about tho kiss. From there, Bobby travels through space and time, ending up on Denduron and right in the middle of a rebellion against evil despot overlords. He learns that he is a Traveller, someone who can travel to other worlds, times and dimensions. Travellers appear at key points in a world's history, so that they can help the world move on to peace and prosperity. Bobby also learns that not all Travellers have the world's best interests in mind. I wanted to like this book, I really did. The world building is quite imaginative, but I found story clunky. At times, this novel is quite poorly written. Which is a shame, because there is so much GREAT YA genre fiction out there, that this one should not have been taking up so much of the bestseller lists.
