This book was alright, but the beginning was pretty slow to me, which made me want to read it less.

This book was ok, it wasn't terrible, or good. I kept waiting for it to get better but it never did. Way too unrealistic for me.

When listing the books I read recently, I often leave this one out. It wasn't overly bad, but not extremely good either. I guess it's sort of worth the time.

Okay, the first page of this book almost made me want to stop reading, because of the line, "I can't drag my eyes off him... It's this unearthly element that's got me hooked." Reading that, I was thinking, "Really? ANOTHER YA dark romance?" But I read on, and am now extraordinarily glad I did. This book is wonderful. I couldn't put it down! There is, yes, a romance, but it's very sweet and has the BEST ending. The plot is a good, quirky twist on the usual tale of a cursed family. The book has some classic elements of fantasy- the seventh son, an evil sorcerer- but also some unique qualities. There's a little social drama in the non-magically aware world, and the history of these two characters, which I think is intended to be read into. This review might be a little scattered, and I apologize. It's just one of those hard-to-describe books that leaves you with a satisfied feeling in the pit of your stomach. :)

Such a good book! I loved every minute of it and it didn't take long at all to get into it. I love books with 2 perspectives. You get to see the story from both sides, in this case it's Kate and Jarrod. The ending was sooo sweet! I definitly recommend this book if you like love stories with a bit of magic in them. :)

Back of the book: No one can fight fate alone. When kate and Jarrod first lock eyes across the classroom, their connection is instantaneous. While everyone else shuns Jarrod as a freak, Kate's passionate belief in witchcraft helps her see him for what he truly is-- someone with a powerful gift. She is fascinated by what he is capable of...and undeniably attracted to him. When Jarrod's abilities appear to be linked to a centuries-old curse, Kate is the only one who can help him. Together, they embark on a journey that transcends time and place, and discover a maguic that will bind them together forever.

Sensing that her new classmate, Jarrod, has supernatural powers similar to her own, Kate tries to inform Jarrod of the gift he possesses, but he does not believe her until his power reaches a dangerous level.

"You don't know the lord, my lady. If he found out you had no one to tend to your bath, it'll be our hides that bear the brunt of his anger.".... "Glenys," I start, for she's obviously the one who makes the decisions. "The reason my lady is so close to tanning your hides herself, is that she likes to attend my bath personally... and, well, privately." I smile, find Kate's eyes, which have grown huge, and add, "We are newly married, after all.".... They leave and Kate spins on me. "You enjoyed that, didn't you?" I laugh and toss her a rough towel. "Allow me to be your chivalrous knight. You go first." She stares at me for a long moment, waiting. "What?" She begins waving at me. I get the message and turn around.
