Michael Cera's Must See Movie Guide

Annotation:Check out the movies and TV DVDs that the library has featuring Michael Cera. I still can't get enough of him as George Michael in Arrested Development. Just in case the blog posting gets taken down, the films on the list not included below are: Scarecrow, High and Low, Wet Hot American Summer, Shadow of a Doubt, Boogie Nights, Toy Story 3 and TV Show "Look Around You".

Annotation:Cera is a huge Coen Brothers fan. In Fargo, Jerry, who works for his father-in-law at a car dealership, finds himself in a lot of debt. He decides to hire kidnappers to ransom his wife to her father. But as they're from Fargo, North Dakota things quickly go wrong.

Annotation:By the Coen Brothers. If you don't know who The Dude and bowling-buddy Walter are, you definitely should check out this movie. When there is a case of mistaken identity The Dude and Walter must straighten things out.

Annotation:By the Coen Brothers. When ex-con and ex-cop realize they can't have children, they kidnap a quintuplet from furniture tycoon, Nathan Arizona. Kidnappings, capers and slapstick comedy make this movie great.

Annotation:Cera claims this is the "Best Show Ever Made". The Larry Sanders Show is a funny behind-the-scenes look at a late night television show.

Annotation:Although YPRL doesn't own Rushmore or Bottle Rocket, YPRL does have The Life Aquatic - another fantastic Wes Anderson film.

Annotation:One of several Hitchcock movies Cera recommends. A range of characters (journalist, nurse, radio operator, business man) end up in a small boat after their boat is sunk during a WWII attack. When they pull another survivor from the water, the don't know what they are in for - as he is a man from the boat that sunk them.

Annotation:One of several Hitchcock movies Cera recommends. Another case of mistaken identity: foreign spies think that a NY ad exec is a government agent. He must flee to survive.

Annotation:One of several Hitchcock movies Cera recommends. After professional photographer Jeff breaks his leg, he spends a lot of time looking out the rear window of his apartment. He sees a lot, including murder.

Description
Recently in London Ontario Canada, our favourite awkward movie star, Michael Cera, gave a hand-written Must Watch movie guide to a fan. At the bottom of his list (which is fantastic, by the way), he wrote a personalized message to the fan: "To Harvey, Please watch these, for your own sanity. - Michael Cera". You may know Cera from his most recent film, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World or from the TV show that gave him his start: Arrested Development. Although the library doesn't own all the titles on his list, we give you a great start!
