Darcy Fitzwilliam simply doesn't have time to fall in love. But this Christmas, a kiss under the mistletoe will change everything... As partner at a major New York hedge fund, Darcy's only serious relationship is with her work cellphone. The truth is, she's too busy being successful and making money to have time for Christmas... let alone to allow romance into her life. But this year Darcy is coming home to Pemberley, Ohio, for the holidays. There, she runs into her old neighbour and high-school foe Luke Bennet - the oldest of five wayward brothers. When Darcy's enmity with Luke is re-opened, along with a hefty dollop of sexual chemistry... well, sparks are sure to fly. Can Darcy fall in love - or will her pride, and Luke's prejudice against big-city girls, stand in their way?

This was a nice, light read. Funny and romantic and I really enjoyed the gender swapping re telling on the classic by Jane Austen. A bit slow paced in some areas but overall not that bad.

This book was such a let down for me. I didn't care much for how the characters were written. I still am not sure on this name swap thing that the author had going.... I didn't like it at all. I also very quickly got annoyed with just about every decision the main character made. And I don't know if it was just me but I felt like I was reading a book full of advertisements. Everything had a name drop. North face, Tiffany's. Champagne brands, apple products. I don't know if this was done to prove how much money they had or what but I detested it entirely. Overall not my favorite book and didn't do anything for me.

Many reviews weren't very favorable for this "Pride and Prejudice"-based novel, but I rather enjoyed it. It was light, funny and totally had me in the Christmas spirit.

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite classic story. I've read and watched almost all of the different renditions of this story - from the YouTube drama to the one with the zombies. I loved it all.

Except for this.

And I liked the concept initially. I've always wanted to see the story from Darcy's point of view and I always enjoy the gender switch as much as the next person.

But man was the execution terrible. Everything was just ridiculous. It felt so... flat and fake and terribly lazy writing. But my biggest problem was with Bingley.

It's like he was written as a girl and then switched his pronouns because he was gay. It was so toxic and lazy.

It felt like it was written by a teenager, or someone trying to meet the deadline for NanoWrimo.

There was a whole thing about the 12 days of Christmas and why Darcy didn't believe in Santa. Like... what. It was so out of place.

I'm sorry but I am just upset at how this book came out because I was so excited to read this

Excellent Christmas read! Melissa De La Cruz does it again with a Christmas romance loosely based on Pride and Prejudice.
