Lots of singing, lots of dancing & great costumes! Interesting to learn how/why PT Barnum started his circus. Entertaining, especially if you are a fan of musicals.

Not what I expected, a musical? I liked the bearded lady in the bonus features. P.T Barnum had an interesting first name. Now I know why he went by P.T.

I'm probably one of the only few who didn't like this movie. I'll be honest, I am not a big fan of musicals in the first place, but I'm just not seeing what all the big fuss is with this one. There were a few catchy songs, but nothing very memorable...same for the dance numbers. Best one was where Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron are in the bar. There was also like no character development...which drives me nuts. They could of focused a bit more on the individuals he sought out and used in his show...backstories and such rather than just Hugh Jackman's character. And what was with all that CGI?! Anyways...it was a movie with lots of loud music and bright colors....that's about it!

Seeing Hugh Jackman pansing and dancing around, not slashing people to pieces is enough to make me like this movie. What a great actor.

A true masterpiece! I LOVE everything about this film! Perfect story, choreography, dancing, music, singing, acting, costumes, set, etc. I will be watching this over and over!
The only "negative" elements for children that gave this a PG rating instead of a G rating: a brawl, social drinking, a few cleavage bearing costumes.
Five stars!!!

The plot is hardly the greatest (and far afoot from reality-- PTB was not a very nice man!), but this movie is all about the singing and dancing. And if you buy into those performances rather than expecting a more conventional bio-pic, you will have a good time. I had no idea this was such a huge hit at the box office-- the music and lyrics targeted to a young, hip audience must be the driver here. I'm a Hugh Jackson fan and much prefer him in the British theatre revival of Oklahoma some years back rather than the Wolverine stuff, so I was a happy camper.

What do you get when you combine amazing actors, an amazing plot, and amazing songs? AN AMAZING MOVIE!

Wow. Everything about this film was spectacular—costumes, sets, acting, singing, dancing… Everything. The plot was especially thrilling. A must-watch for anyone who loves musicals… or just good movies in general!

One thing I noticed (good or bad, you decide) was how the movie isn't historically accurate. I mean, it generally follows some of the events of P.T. Barnum's life, but it's more about the singing and dancing and romance than it is about the past. Even so, I found this an excellent film to just enjoy for what it is.

My favourite songs are Rewrite the Stars, The Other Side, and Never Enough.

P.T. Barnum once said that there’s a sucker born every minute, and he reaches out from the grave to prove it once again. This movie continues the “new musical” trend started by “La La Land” and “Hamilton”. It’s always jarring to me to hear contemporary songs put in the mouth of characters in a period piece – the argument is that the music then was as fresh and counter-culture as hip-hop is now, but C’mon - Jenny Lind sang opera on her tours! I’m sure the movie industry will continue to be in the self-congratulatory mood that heaped Oscars on “La La Land” and will pour them on for “The Greatest Showman” which celebrates the “showman” who created the overhyped celebrity culture that spawned reality shows and the Kardashians. If you’re a purist who loathes history repackaged as anachronistic contemporary theater, then you should avoid this movie. If you loved “La La Land” and are eagerly anticipating “Hamilton”, then this will make you gush.
