I tried to watch it, but after three episodes I gave up. Jumping around between characters and leaving huge gaps in the story doesn't create suspense for me, just frustration. The background music is from the same people who scored the first two season of Luther, and it really got on my nerves. If you like the Luther series, give this a try. I like Luther, but this didn't work for me.

In this gritty British mystery series, a female detective is experiencing blackouts at inopportune moments. Danger: Binge-watching ahead.

A Thriller-action-detective-mystery series! So many confusing twists and turns that you will no longer know who is a bad or a good guy! Worse, by the end of the series, you will start believing that there are no good friends nor police officers, and most people are violent criminals!
While it is refreshing to be more realiastic about the personalities and characters of people and not be so ready to categorize, this series really pushes the boundaries enough to give one a headache! The episodes are overly complex, and there are way too many characters to keep track of! Will surely keep you on your toes! Lots of violence and confusing scenarious! So, almost everyone who was killing decided to use the same method? Bizarre! Even with a copycat, it defies reality!

While this a novel and a quality detective thriller, I just did not care for it after a while! Possibly, it was due to all the violence!

I liked some characters, and I may miss them; yet, it is unlikely I will continue watching the next series!

Oh ya. I agree with the other reviews - what a twisted plot & worth a jolt to the very end. So glad i came across this first series. I suppose if you're a detective yourself you might see through the details, but I did not see it coming & I'm very picky.

A terrific series with lots of surprising connections amongst the characters.

Not your average British detective thriller. There are plenty of twists and red herrings here in the story about a serial killer who has evaded capture. Lots of possible suspects, even detective Marcella Backland herself possibly, since she seems to have ongoing bouts of memory loss and violent outbursts. She is clearly troubled having lost a child and also recently separated from her lawyer husband, who may be implicated in at least one of the murders. You'll need patience, but it will pay off if you stick with this one.

I liked this show. There are a lot of twists, and Marcella has periods of memory loss that cause her to doubt herself. Her husband is a jerk who left her after the loss of a child, getting a new rich, younger girlfriend. Marcella has some issues to work out, but her cop instinct is still working. I hope to see more of Marcella.

Another great BBC murder mystery. Also glad that the BBC is now filming season 2!
