This is a lovely film. As a Francophile who has never traveled to southern France, I found it delightful to see the beautiful country side, hear the Roman history of the regions, and enjoy the exposure to special foods, wines, markets, and museums. You see everything from Diane Lane's point of view, so when she does not understand the French conversations happening around her, you also do not. She is skeptical of the motives of her male French companion and does not trust him when she ends up paying for their detours. You will have to see the film to know if she is right to doubt his intentions and honesty. I really enjoyed this tour of southern France and the growing relationship of the two stars. Highly recommend. Kristi & Abby Tabby

A pretty lane romantic comedy of the middle-aged folks. The portrayal of Frenchmen as food connoisseur and sexually predatory is cliche. Totally passable.

Not much of a story. If you are looking for a romantic comedy you’ll be disappointed, but if you want to go on a virtual road trip in France with Diane Lane, this movie is the one.

Do yourself a favour and watch something else. Nothing good about this movie. Terrible plot line, character development, cinematography, script, etc. I think Alec Baldwin realized this early on in the filming process and so you don't see him at all after the first 10 minutes. And to top it all off, in the last scene Diane Laine breaks the fourth wall for no good reason. If you are any to watch a movie set in France, watch Chocolate (with Juliette Binoche) instead.

Meh.
A somewhat charming Frenchman spends the bulk of the film trying to get into his business partner's wife's pants. Sprinkle in close-ups of the food they're eating (god, I hate that) and non-subtitled conversations with other French people (god, I hate that, too).

Boom. I just saved you 2 hrs. You're welcome.
