Two years later, Walker receives an astonishing letter. Helen has inherited Malpas, a vast, crumbling Georgian house on one of Ireland's great rivers. Her new husband has drowned himself, and darkness is rising around her. She needs help. David has rescued Helen once, but he begins to realise that this time it may not be so easy - and that he is in danger too...

Dave Walker is standing at the river when a shout for help comes across to him. He jumps in and rescues a woman that is about to change his life forever. Helen is everything he is not and Dave comes to love her passionately. When she abruptly leaves him to live in a dark decaying house in Ireland, he is more than surprised. Two years later he follows her there and becomes wrapped up in their new love story that oddly parallels a love story from 75 years before. This book grips you by the throat and never lets up. The twists and turns are sudden and unnerving. In the end you have to wonder who needed to be rescued. Nothing can prepare you for this wild ride!
