The international bestseller Dean Koontz delivers a masterclass of storytelling suspense in this thriller. What would you do if a serial killer forced you to choose who he murders next? On the windscreen of his SUV, Billy finds the first note. It gives him a choice. If he takes the note to the police, an elderly woman will be killed. If he doesn't approach the police, a schoolteacher will die. He thinks it's a hoax. The schoolteacher is killed. Further notes taunt Billy's conscience, forcing him to decide who lives and who dies. He must think the unthinkable, fast, in an accelerating nightmare. More communications from the killer follow with ever tighter deadlines. Each is more personal, more confrontational than the last until he is isolated, with no one to rely on but himself. Finally, he must risk everything to save the helpless, clueless victims...

A bit different from Koontz's typical works, this one has many one and two sentence paragraphs, and really cut down on the detailed, literary descriptions that he typically uses. It was definitely a change of pace, and i enjoyed it. It was straight forward, and jumped right into the action.

Despite the fact that I dislike this author's bigotry and homophobia, I tend to read a lot of his works. I thought this book was a bit of a slog, and was glad to be finished. The ending was not great. And the bartender character was not very believable. He was just too forensically capable and too philosophical. But it was hard not to want to read it to the end to find out who did it and why.

Another winner for me from the fabulous Dean Koontz

Velocity if the first book I've read by Dean Koontz. I've typically avoided super-popular authors like Koontz and Cussler and the other authors you find in Airport bookstores because I'm just that kind of guy.

What made me want to read this one was the quote on the back of the book. It seemed interesting so I thought I'd give it a shot. Well, needless to say, I now understand why Koontz is so well liked.

Velocity was a great read! Fast paced and very suspensfull, I found that I could barley put it down.

Another great read from Koontz. Certainly a page turner. While to an extent I agree with Lauren that the ending at first seemed to be flat and disappointing, as I reflected on the plot from start to finish I was impressed with the ending Koontz created. Just as with many on the choices and actions taken by the main character, Billy, took me by surprise, so did the ending, which was not expected - continuing the trend throughout the book.

Many elements including the ending were not what I expected - and that in itself made for an even better read!!

This book has a very interesting premise, but I thought the ending fell a bit flat and was disappointing.

Was very interesting to read. It was written to make you continue on until you find out who the killer is.
