The gods of Olympus are alive in the 21st Century. They still fall in love with mortals and have children who might become great heroes, but most of these children meet horrible fates at the hands of monsters by the age of twelve. Only a few learn the truth of their identity and make it to Half Blood Hill, a Long Island summer camp dedicated to training young demigods. Such is the revelation that launches young Percy Jackson on a quest to help his real father, Poseidon, avert a war among the gods. With the help of Grover the satyr and Annabeth the daughter of Athena, Percy must journey across the United States to catch a thief who has stolen the original weapon of mass destruction - Zeus master bolt. Along the way, they face a host of mythological enemies determined to stop them. Most of all, Percy must come to terms with a father he has never known, and an Oracle that has warned him of betrayal by a friend.

I think the first book is boring but once you get to the second book you are litterly glued to the other books in the series.Once you read the first series (this is the first series) then read the second series,The Heros Of Olympus, and the third series The Trials Of Apollo. Then read the norse books (Magnus Chase). Then read the egypt books (The King Cronicles). And then you are set.

This book is filled with adventure, suspense, thriller, sadness, and some fear. There are many emotions included within this book. While reading, I laughed, cried, feared and got scary vibes. This was my first ever book I read in 13 years and loved it. And I am very sure, I will finish reading the whole series.

i loved it. one of the bests book i've read in a while

The book has the ultimate parent agreement - the kids love it, it is part educational, and is funny. What more could you need? Percy is a 12 year old boy who is living with his mom and step dad, Gabe. When he goes on a holiday in the summer with his mom, he finds out that his real dad is Poseidon, and there are more children like him. When he arrives at the camp for all the demigods, he finds out he needs to stop a war between the gods, or he might not be around for much longer. I would suggest this book for ages 10-16, because any younger and it would be too scary, and any older and it would be boring. This book is lots of fun, and I suggest it a lot.

This was one of the first book series I always aspired to read, even though my kid-self had thought reading was one of the worst activities in the whole world. Percy's constant sarcasm and heroic quests is the reason I savor every moment I have reading.

“Hades raised an eyebrow. When he sat forward in his throne, shadowy faces appeared in the folds of his black robes, faces of torment,as if the garment was stitched of trapped souls from the Fields of Punishment, trying to get out. The ADHD part of me wondered, off-task, whether the rest of his clothes were made the same way. What horrible things would you have to do in your life to get woven into Hades' underwear?”

“In a way, it's nice to know that there are Greek gods out there, because you have somebody to blame when things go wrong. For instance, when you're walking away from a bus that's just been attacked by monster hags and blown up by lightning, and it's raining on top of everything else, most people might think that's just really bad luck; when you're a half-blood, you understand that some devine force is really trying to mess up your day.”

I was barefoot since I gave my shoes to Grover. Better that they wonder why one of us was barefoot than why one of us had hooves.
