With the closure of the William Street railway crossing Penthills residents required another access to Greensborough. A new road was therefore constructed linking Church Avenue and Yando Street. As this road crossed the Yando Street main drain a decision was made to heighten the road at this point and create an artificial lake. The lake incorporates a vertical pipe intake guarded at the top with a trash and safety screen and connecting to the outlet culvert by a 90 degree bend, cast-in-situ. Formwork for this bend and the outlet culvert can be seen in the photo.
