In a Victorian mansion hotel on a Scottish island, a group of English Literature lecturers and students from Glasgow gather for a study weekend. Away from his wife, David Cudlipp feels free to seduce one of his students; Harry Beck seeks distractions from his stalled writing career; whilst Andrew Lawson rests from caring for his bed-ridden wife. Among the students, Kate Foster plans to lose her virginity and Jacqui Forsyth to recover from a break-up; while for Vikki Kane, it's a chance to shed her inhibitions. Then there's Marion, the 'Mouse', who plans only to observe everyone else. Nothing turns out quite how anyone expected....
