A great movie in all aspects. Very sad storyline but such a well-done production in terms of everything from directing to script to cast to costumes...everything!!! I totally recommend it to everyone! Five stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

I really enjoyed this movie. Totally believable.

Excellent period piece. I think they did a great job re-creating the look of WW2 and telling a unique story.

A hard-core war film with raw violence, intense action, graphic sexuality and a twisting plot that offers a series of surprises.

Truly childish script with cringe worthy scenes, i.e. the hair dye scene and the 'He swore...' scene...Expected much more and got much not bother!

We tend to think that stories "inspired by real events" must have some historical merit, but such is not necessarily the case. The writer/director of this film is known primarily for his pulp fiction and crude, sensational approach to filmmaking, and so this account is intended to be over the top, a bit of a "romp". The resistance movement is so much less heroic than is usually depicted, is unlucky and/or incompetent in its manoeuvres, and not without its own villains. You may find the film less off-putting if you just don't take it seriously.

One of Verhoeven's best films- an exciting look at the Dutch resistance in WW2 told through the eyes of a young Jewish woman.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this film in spite of the grim subject matter and bloodshed involved. The suspense builds up perfectly and there are many surprising turns in this film. Top marks in my book !

This is a 2006 Dutch WW2 thriller co-written and directed by Paul Verhoeven, based on and inspired by the true events.
It is about a young Jewish woman in the Netherlands who becomes a spy for the resistance during WW2 after tragedy befalls her in an encounter with the Nazis.
Although the heroine is a mentally complicated character, the film doesn't focus on moral discourse but rather on human measure and with a non-criticizing approach.
With ugly resistance fighters, pretty kraut whores, spies, traitors, sex, filth and brutal actions, you may remain breathless at the edge of your seat while watching the whole movie.
Carice van Houten plays the heroine superbly.
It is one of the greatest action-thriller flicks you could enjoy to the hilt.
