I rather enjoyed watching Karl Pilkington as he explored the many wonders of the world. Some scenes and episodes were dry for me, but Karl's humourous pessimism, and the cringe-worthy foods and sights that he encounters (and eats) makes up for it. I particularly enjoyed Karl's trip to Brazil because of the majestic scenery, and the cool carnival they have there.

This is a truly funny series- for those who like their travel programs with a touch of irreverence, this series is a refreshing and laugh provoking TV show.

This was recommended to me by a friend who described it as sort of a real-life comedy. Personally, I didn't think it was especially funny, and I thought it was actually better as a travel series, showing interesting (and uncomfortable) things the usual travel shows NEVER show.

Satirical and often rare footages of the famous tourist sites or tourist traps in the eyes of Pilkington:
Bejing and the Great Wall
Cairo and the Pyramids
Holy men (babas) and the Taj Mahal
Jerusalem and Petra
Amazon tribe and Machu Picchu

Read up on much more of Pilkington's facts (with giant grain of salt) of those places in "An Idiot Abroad: The Travel Diaries of Karl Pilkington, 2010."

I first saw this on Cable. It's very hilarious of the situations that they subject Karl to do while traveling to different countries. They purposely make him uncomfortable. They book the worst hotels or sleeping conditions, for him to stay at too. But he meets the most interesting tribal people and others in his travels. I really recommend this series, especially if you can't afford to travel overseas much.

Absolutely love this. Can't wait for the library to get the second ones. I travel a lot and am a middle aged woman and these vidoes are hilarious. Karl you are a poor English sot who shouldn't travel but lucky for me you do. Gervais is a GENIUS

This Movie was quite Hilarious. Shows the poorer part of a number of Countries and some of the unbelievable things that the people there eat.

This is the most underrated show ever. Karl Pilkington is a genius everything he says is hilarious. This is the funniest show I have ever watched

Character annoyances could be lessened by allowing a day or two between viewing episodes. Probably would benefit by having episode selection in specific order [check imdb for that I guess]. Ricky's prediction of it being a laugh-fest undone by his own mean-spiritedness. Enjoyed Karl's perspective -quite often being you don't appreciate your own country as much as when you travel to others. His genuine comments and a feeling my mind had "been broadened" - even ever-so slightly, crude scenes & all- will probably bring me to watch the sequel series.

If you are an adolescent male you might find this enjoyable if not, move along. It's basically a dude travelling the world, staying in the filthiest hotels and eating the most disgusting food.
