The monster showed up after midnight. As they do. But it isn't the monster Conor's been expecting. He's been expecting the one from his nightmare, the one he's had nearly every night since his mother started her treatments, the one with the darkness and the wind and the screaming... This monster is something different, though. Something ancient, something wild. And it wants the most dangerous thing of all from Conor. It wants the truth.

One of the best tales I have encountered in many years. Stellar performance by Jason Isaacs. This is a story for teens and adults. At some point in everyone's life a monster will come calling.

A haunting, heartbreaking novel guaranteed to make you laugh, cry, and re-read. The audiobook, read by Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy!) is a stunning performance, and it's short enough that it won't overwhelm you, even if you're not an audiobook person.

A really great read and one that makes you think about mind over matter. Middle-schooler, Connor O'Malley, copes with his Mother's terminal illness, bullying at school and his relationship with his Grandmother and absentee Father. Psychology and fantasy become one as Connor works through the problems in his life. A short book on compact disc with an excellent reader. Some mature themes here, so best for teens.
