Kate is is charge. The oldest. The only one who remembers their parents. Promised to protect her brother and sister until they return. Michael is the bookish brother. Scrawny, bullied at every orphanage (his glasses somehow always end up in the toilet). Loves stories about magic, expecially involving dwarves. Emma is a pint-sized brawler. Devoted to her brother and sister. Thinks Michael is deeply weird. Will fight anyone who says so. Secretly threw Michael's glasses in the toilet, twice. With the discovery of an old leather book, an ancient magical prophesy is set in motion which will take them on the adventure of several lifetimes, to worlds outside their own.

Great for fans of Harry Potter! A similar magic adventure, and also narrated by Jim Dale like the Harry Potter audiobooks. One of my favorite children's series, you will love the characters.

Great story, made better by Jim Dale, the reader from the Harry Potter series of audiobooks. Witches, wizards, dwarves, crazy monsters with swords and time travel! Doesn't get any better than that!

we loved the narration by Jim Dale, the Harry Potter narrator. Good story - it grew on us as we listened. Strong family theme. My 12-year-old son really enjoyed it.

This book kept my 3 children 13, 11, 10 "silent" on our 4 hour car trip! It's a good one.

What a wonderful new fantasy series! It's so well written--has all the right elements. 3 children on a quest for their parents, books of knowledge, strong supporting characters and a terrific "baddie" too. I loved listening to this cd--the same fellow who did the reading for all the audio Harry potter cd's, Jim Dale, did the reading on this as well. All in all, the start of one terrific new series--I'll be looking forward to the next one for sure!
