A scintillating thriller of murder and secrets, lovers separated by time, and a mystical perfume that unlocks past lives ... Jac L'Etoile has always been haunted by the past, her memories infused with the exotic scents she grew up around as the heir to a storied French perfume company. Fleeing the pain of those remembrances - and the suicide of her mother - she's left the company in the hands of her brother Robbie. But when Robbie hints at an earth-shattering discovery in the family archives in Paris, and then suddenly goes missing - leaving a dead body in his wake - Jac is plunged into a world she thought she'd left behind. For the House of L'Etoile has been hiding a powerful secret since 1799: a scent that unlocks the mysteries of reincarnation. In the wrong hands, it's a perfume with a deadly power. However identifying the formula may be Jac's only chance to save her brother... THE BOOK OF LOST FRAGRANCES fuses history, passion and suspense in an intoxicating weave that moves from Cleopatra's Egypt and the terrors of revolutionary France to Tibet's battle with China and the glamour of modern-day Paris.

Blind Date with a Book 2018 comment: "Very intriguing concepts. A bit slow to start, but quite exciting near the end."

Loved this book from beginning to end. Interesting historical details about perfume making. The characters were intriguing, and I kept reading to find out how it would end. Fourth in a series, but I hadn't read any of the others and it was fine as a standalone book. I do plan on reading the rest of the series.

An interesting mystery that tells the story of reincarnation all the way back to ancient Egypt.

It was an amazing novel. Short chapters was a bonus, but I had such a hard time putting the book down, it was irrelevant. I was a little disappointed with the ending, but it was an overall success. It has been the first book Ive actually ever completed, during and since highschool.
