Of course, there can be no denying that "Super 8" was, indeed, a "Steven Spielberg" production right through to its very core. From my perspective, I see "Super 8" as being Spielberg's way of demonstrating to us all just how hip he thinks he is with the times.

In his attempt to keep up with the big boys of today's Sci-Fi aliens - Instead of giving us the cute, cuddly and friendly-type aliens of the 1970s and 80s like he did with "Close Encounters Of The 3rd Kind" and "E.T.", - Here Spielberg is now offering us the perfect alien-monster of this new millennium - A big, mean, totally destructive and hungry bastard-of-an-alien who, naturally, just "wants-to-go-home".

Boring. Childish. Not worth the time. A rare Spielberg clunker.

Amazing plot. Great acting. Disgusting language, and by the kids no less. Every other word was horrible. It should have been rated r for language. Not at all recommended.

I've seen it before and I'll watch it again. Have to admit I'm a sucker for kid sci fi and boys navigating the passage into adulthood. carl Jung would approve.

Without a doubt, a love letter to Generation X and the films of the 1980s, especially through the prism of Spielbergian magic. I highly recommend Super 8 and have enjoyed watching J J Abrams other films.

I've always heard of it. Finally watched it. Hey I recognized alot of people. Cool to see the kids making movies. Wow, train wreck! Great soundtrack. Watch the ending credits. The kids movie beats out most of the crap that the hollywood smucks promote as academy award stuff.

Coarse Language: This film is meant to feel like a 1980's movie, and they accomplish that partly through the amount of language uttered by young characters. If you're sensitive to language, "Super 8" is not for you.

Violence: "Super 8" is a thriller, which naturally entails a good dose of violence. Perhaps the "worst" section is when a character ends up in an accident that leaves his face dripping in blood.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: Like all good suspenseful thrillers, the audience is left wondering "what" the creature is, and where it will strike next. People disappear (usually) screaming into the darkness.

Sexual Content: Part of the language includes crude references to sexual organs.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: humans being consumed, persons being crushed, meat locker effect

Coarse Language: One F word and many S words. it's a PG-13 film though, but nothing over the top for a PG-13 movie.

Other: Why is this category even here? What could possibly be in here that doesn't fit into the above groups? Really extreme violence? Absurd language? Obscene sexual content? I mean really, what's up with this 'Other' category, it's kinda out of place?
