Children and parents alike will delight in this joyous declaration of toddler independence. This book celebrates the feats of growing out of babyhood and starting to embrace the world on your own terms. Whether it's being tall enough to reach a high shelf or brave enough to splash in the waves, Krensky and Gillingham address the small victories that come with growing just a little bit older. Energetic text and retro-fresh illustrations celebrate this important developmental stage with charm and relevance.

We own the "I Am So Brave" book in this series and I was excited to share this book with my 20 month old. The book is good, however maybe not good for kids that little, without having a copy of the book handy to give the exact examples, the accomplishments the kid in the book has are not age appropriate for small toddlers, in particular something about reaching a high shelf. As a book lover with a toddler, the absolute last thing I want to encourage my book loving climber is to try to get books off high shelves. Another passage is about taking an apple for one's self to eat. Again: terrific for maybe a beginning reader.
