'Psycho' (1960) is the film that launched the slasher genre and made star Anthony Perkins forever associated with mysterious killer Norman Bates. Shocking audiences upon release this will still leave you second guessing the next time you take a shower.
In 'The birds' (1963) a wealthy San Francisco playgirl pursues a potential boyfriend to a small Northern California town that slowly takes a turn for the bizarre when birds of all kinds suddenly begin to attack people there in increasing numbers and with increasing viciousness.
'Rear window' (1954) is movie making that shines a mirror up to its inherent voyeuristic qualities. James Stewart is in a wheel chair stuck in his apartment and combats boredom by spying on his neighbours. The twist comes when he suspects he has witnessed a murder and is powerless to stop it.
