Do Dogs Dream ? Ask anyone who's ever been owned by a dog and the answer will be an unequivocal "yes". Stanley Coren has written an eminently readable book that answer some of the most obvious as well as some of the not-so-obvious questions about dogs. How Smart are Dogs? Can Dogs Laugh? Can Dogs Detect Cancer? Some of the questions are more interesting than others; more difficult to answer than others. You'll en joy this book even if your not presently owned by a dog.

It took me a while to get through this book as I don't usually go for a non fiction but I saw this one on display and since I loved dogs and own one I thought it might be interesting. And needless to say, it really was. found myself reading basically the whole book because the facts were just so interesting. It was intriguing to read about some of the odd things dogs do and why they do it. Especially since I have seen my dog doing them and have always wondered. Overall, I thought this was a fantastic book. Awesome for dog lovers!

Hey, my Dachshund can evaluate algebra and do quadratic equations in a complete sleep and if in a good mood, write a thesis on pi! But just one thing must be allowed, HE HATES CARROTS!

Astounding as always. The scientific research that Stanley Coren contributes to understanding our canine companions cannot be oversold.

In Stanley Coren's latest addition to his string of wonderful books, he answers a number of questions from dog owners about how their four-legged friends think and act.

How well can a dog taste? Does genetics determine a dog's personality? Why do dogs roll in garbage? Coren answers such questions in 3-4 pages, drawing on scientific studies to enhance his responses. He also includes a section on various approaches to training dogs such as clicker training, behavior capture, lure training, physical prompting, and shaping; he succinctly defines each method, explains how it works, and discusses its pros and cons.

A very informative, easy read for any dog lover.

Some of these very short chapters are quite interesting, although none go into a lot of depth. It reminds me of the text around a book of pictures. Still, it's recent and contains some new research info about dogs.
