. I liked this book quite a bit. it has lots of funny and colorful comic strips and lots of fun activities to practice your french. I liked the one best, where you had to find Monsieur Hulot's pets and describe their location, like under the table or behind the tv, etc.

the book takes you through a lot of the basics you would need to travel like, greetings, directions, ordering food and that sort of thing. every other page has about 20 new words to learn and a grammar rule. so you have to work your way through it slowly and study each page before moving on. if you are more advanced the book would make a nice, quick review or you could just have fun reading all the comic strips.

there is a similar title, Learn French by Nicole Irving, in the library catalog. it is much harder than French For Beginners. it moves along faster, gives you even more words to learn per page and goes into the grammar in much more depth. I would recommend studying French For Beginners first.
