I’m in two minds about this book. It’s part of a longer series about a pair of step-siblings who seek answers after their parents disappeared. (I hate coming in on the middle of a series.) As they piece together this, a friend of the sister dies, and they unravel her death and the girl’s troubled past. Tightly plotted and gripping, but I have a feeling the constant flashbacks to the first book are annoying if you’ve read that book already. Also, I really don’t like the main character, Rose, though she’s refreshingly unique among the YA heroines I’ve read so far. This is a highly personal opinion; others may really like the book. I won’t be checking out the previous book or any further ones myself, however.
