Swept away when her wagon train attempts a difficult river crossing, Ruthy MacNeil isn't all that upset about being separated from the family that raised her. All they've ever done is work her to the bone. Alive but disoriented, she's rescued by Luke Stone, which, unfortunately, puts her future in more danger. Luke is heading home to reclaim the ranch stolen from his family. But the men who killed his father are working hard to ensure that Luke doesn't make it alive. Still, he can't just abandon Ruthy, so she'll have to come along.

Such a fun book! The characters were very likable, and it is fun to know I can read more of their adventures in the next books! Very fast paced right from the start.
While there is a relationship between this book and the Kincaid Brides series, I enjoyed this book a great deal more. As I stated, I found these characters much more likable!

This is my favorite Mary Connealy book by far. I like the way she toned down the humor (although her breezy style is still there). The characters became more real to me, instead of being "over the top" as in some of her other books. I cared about what happened to them, to the point I had to look ahead (something I rarely do) to see if certain characters would be all right or not! I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
