Glenn Close always turns in strong performances, but this one is magnificent; a career high. This film is highly recommended.

This is a 2011 British-Irish drama directed by Rodrigo García, based on a 1927 novella by George Moore.
It is an extraordinarily bizarre and heartwrenching story.
Superb is the performance of Glenn Close as Albert Nobbs.

A top notch film; this one will grab you; unless you are a liberal: they have no heart. The story takes place before Bruce decided to dress-up like a woman--the cowardly swine didn't have them cut-off, so he is not a truly depraved LGBRTQFD.

Absolutely stunning portrayal to Albert Nobbs...taking into consideration the timeline of when this is occurring along with great thematic back drops and other great actors/actresses....accolades to the time, dedication, and true to form nature it is done in!!

I admit I didn't know it was Glenn Close until after I saw the movie. She fooled me; great acting!

It's a pretty slow movie with an uneventful ending. Nothing is realized by the end.

The main character is a waiter, who is in fact a woman. The script is just OK. Slightly entertaining only.

It is best to watch this film without expectations or preconceptions: It is an excellent film in presenting socioeconomic survival tactics in the 19th century.
I do not hold with the boring and lost interest statements: You will be thinking about the film after it is over--Glenn Close's acting of the "sedate" Nobbs, I feel, was right on the money once you understand the childhood history of the character. The film is extremely touching and bittersweet.
