As a huge animal lover, I couldn't get over the multiple attempts at dark humor over deaths of animals. The characters apparently think it's funny using flightless bird chicks as lawn darts, owning Hellhounds to kill poodles & other dogs, & gut rabbits to tell the future. This isn't even a quarter into the book. Not my cup of tea.
