Stories From ABC RNs Trees Project

Book - 2015
Rate this:
A very special collection of 103 stories, memories, and reflections on trees that have had a special meaning in the lives of Australians, from ABC RN. A network wide RN on-air callout for short stories of 'Trees I've Loved, Trees I've Lost' elicited approximately 550 responses, from online uploads, to facebook, email and snail-mail. Handwritten, torn out of workbooks, photographs included - there was a huge passion for trees. Secret trees, cats and trees, trees of compassion, trees of loss, and most of all, the connection between trees and children. For some hard-to-define reason, trees provide a kind of nourishment of the soul, whatever our belief system. We find a freedom and a deep comfort when we climb a tree. This project revealed something of the uniqueness, beauty and grace of a cross section of Australian lives, and is a beautiful snapshot of our very human love for our environment at this time, and in the decades before us.
