Not one of her best books. I kept waiting for a different ending. I guess in that respect, it was a surprise ending. There were moments of severe discomfort - abuse, murder, kids involved... do you really want to read about how a 16 yr old girl was brutally murdered? Or about a parent physically abusing (breaking the arm of) their toddler because they were mad and couldn't control themselves? In retrospect, I would have skipped this book. If you can stomach that kind of story, it was quite interesting.
