Frances narrating:
"Aristocrats and criminals have a lot in common. They're both selfish, get bored easily, and have access to wads of cash they didn't have to work honestly to get."

Hardy played these characters very well, but they were so disgusting I never finished the DVD. They certainly terrorized a city in their days.

Rated 1/10. No, just no! The first bit I watched just had a bunch of stupid, mindless violence.

I expected a bit more of a biography, instead of glorifying some thugs.

A sizzling performance by Tom Hardy rescues this violent film from being just another gangsta' story. Good portrayal, too, of a mismatched marriage when Reggie falls for the neighborhood girl who wants him to go straight.

Most of the best scenes are in the movie trailer. Tom Hardy's performance as two distinct individuals is outstanding, however.

Not historically accurate but a brilliant, stylish English comedy. First-rate writing, acting and production generally. A great '60s musical score, too.

Tom Hardy is somehow extraordinary and ordinary at the same time. He's like the every man, any man & nowhere man. I think this guy could pull off just about any role.

Great dual performances from Tom Hardy and a dope 60's funk instrumental soundtrack make this movie roll. It's really just as fascinating reading up on the real story of the Brothers Kray, but I'd say it's worth a watch (especially if you enjoy Tom's pretty lips as much as I do).

More narrative from Frances: Reggie once said, "The centre of the world could be anywhere you like. Even here, in the East End of London." The world is quite like London. It's not good, it's not bad,
it just is. There's no morality or dishonour, just your own lonely code. Until your race is run. Until the end.
Until we're all just ghosts of the people we once thought we were.

Opening narrative from Frances: London in the 1960s. Everyone had a story about the Krays. You could walk into any pub to hear a lie or two about them. But I was there and I'm not careless with the truth. They were brothers, but bound by more than blood. They were twins as well, counterparts. Gangster princes of the city they meant to conquer. Ron Kray was a one-man London mob. Bloodthirsty, illogical and funny as well. My Reggie was different. Once in a lifetime do you find a street-fighting man like Reg. Believe me when I say it took a lot of love for me to hate him the way I do.

Coarse Language: Americans will be surprised at the constant use of the word "c***", which apparently is a common swear word in British culture.

Violence: Various murders, some by gun, one bloodily by knife. Misogyny: a husband beats and rapes his wife. Torture: rival gang chains and electroshocks a man; corrupt police beat a man.
