I am still listening to the Hamilton Broadway CD. I have tickets to see the play in October, 2017 and decided to give a listen to the original Broadway musical CD. I haven'[t stopped listening to this music yet. What great lyrics/ music! I recommend that you listen to the original CD before seeing the play. It will help in understanding the rap lyrics tremendously.

Hamilton is a phenomenon for a reason. If you are interested in more about Alexander Hamilton, be sure to check out the book that helped Lin-Manuel Miranda write the musical, Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow.

I am incredibly impressed with this musical. In fact, I love it. An instant favorite. I've a read a few of the reviews by conservatives who seem threatened by the story. I have to say, as a conservative myself, I find nothing threatening here. "Immigrants, we get the job done." If you are threatened by that founding idea in our country, then you don't understand our country. I'm 100% pro-immigration. I'm 100% anti-illegal-immigration. Don't understand why people are so threatened by that? The music is superb. The performances are mostly great. The writing is one of the best works we've seen in a while. And "forgiveness"? Forget about it - one of the most moving moments in Broadway history. Can you imagine?

Wait.. Wait. I have a intelligent idea. I will gather up the washed out 80's rock stars and create an contemporary rock opera about life and times of Andrew Jackson; the great American hero. Watch the liberals gather up and pay homage to the bastard.

Lin Manuel Miranda, of In the Heights fame, is back at it again with a brand new musical that is rightfully being called revolutionary. Hamilton, telling the story of the founding of the United States of America, and the revolutions that followed, uses hip-hop, rap, R&B, pop, and rock music to tell it's story, and to great success. Miranda's music and lyrics are skilled in incredible fashion that can be compared to William Shakespeare: Witty, fast-paced, heartbreaking, informational, and unlike anything ever seen before. The story is also told through the use of a cast comprised of mostly people of colour, which is a wonderful burst of diversity. You absolutely must listen to Hamilton at least once - but you'll probably listen to it over and over again.

Excellent rhymes and tunes.
Very entertaining.
I am not familiar enough with Hamilton's history to know if the historical accuracy is there but I suspect so having heard Lin Manuel Miranda on an interview on public radio explain that he referred to Ron Chernow's award winning volume (which I have added to my to read list) on Alexander Hamilton to write this.

Lin Manuel-Miranda is an absolute genius when it comes to music and rhyme. The way he weaves the entire story of who seems like another boring history assignment waiting to happen into a hip-hop upbeat musical is stunning. And it's amazing to think that "No One Else Was in the Room Where it Happened."

If you like theatre you will LOVE this soundtrack. If you are not a fan of theatre, this soundtrack will change your mind. Hamilton gives a fresh and fun spin on history. Can't wait to see the play!

I could not wait...bought the audio download iTunes! Wow, this is going to take many 'runs' to understand the hip-hop, but it's great. What a talented man to write this.
