As someone who has been a voracious researcher of the Tudors since middle school and graduated with a degree in History from college, I was disappointed in this book and the author. Anne Boleyn was a complex, intelligent woman who deserved better than to be treated so flimsily. She was flirtatious, witty, loyal, as well as ambitious. I find it unsettling when a writer of historical fiction shows such clear disdain for the individual she's writing about. When an author writes with obvious bias of their subject (particularly when it's someone who actually existed), the results are often disappointing. There seemed to be a lack of research done (for example, Anne only had a brother and sister, not multiple brothers and a sister), and it makes me cringe to see such a well-regarded writer as Weir take the character of Anne in such a predictable, already-done direction.
