Fabulous. This leaned more into the family dynamic side than the romance side, but both doses were hearty and I fell in love with this set of characters as well. I want more in this universe, Meg! MOREEEEE. I love when there's already been contact between the love interests- no need for all sorts of introductions and boring small talk. And of course, the formatting of the novel takes my heart by storm. I'll say it again- epistolary novels will always and forever grab me and refuse to let me go. Kind of like these characters did.
Another amusing trifle from Meg Cabot, this is part of the "Boy" series. It was funny, pleasant and breezy and if you like her other adult romance novels you will enjoy this one, too. It is an epistolary novel, told entirely through correspondence. Unlike the long letters used in old Victorian novels, this one is told through emails and texts. This style often adds to the humour and while I definitely wouldn't want all novels written like this it makes for a pleasant variation. This would make a great beach read or vacation book.
This was a fun, light-hearted romantic comedy/family drama told entirely through emails/texts/community bulletins/newspapers articles, etc. Had a good time reading it and finished it in one go during a layover and plane ride!
An entertaining book. You won't believe what some of these characters post on social media!
So book had no chapters, rare photographs (gasp!), multiple fonts & plot somewhere between ABC's afterschool special & Hallmark movie.
Chippy thin book went to some surprising dark places in exotic Midwest USA.
Author nailed today's social media.
lol, love the way it was written!! Really cute, really funny!
Samuel Richardson, move over! The epistolary novel is hard to pull off, but Cabot has always done it with such humor and style. I love the snappy conversations, the sheer laugh-out loud quality. This newest entry to the "Boy" series now takes on autocorrect and all the newest electronic quirks we see every day. There are also some returning characters like Dolly Vargas that it was great to see again.
I laughed my way through this book! I'm a total sucker for crazy family dynamics and this 100% delivered. A great read for anyone looking for something light and funny!
