Wm. Paul Young has been called a heretic for the ways he vividly portrays God’s love through his novels. Here he shares twenty-eight commonly uttered and sometimes seemingly innocuous things we say about God. Paul exposes these as lies that keep us from having a full, loving relationship with our Creator. With personal anecdotes and sharing the compassion readers felt from the “Papa” portrayed in The Shack, Paul encourages readers to think anew about important issues including sin, religion, hell, politics, identity, creation, human rights, and helping us discover God’s deep and abiding love.

William Paul Young offers 26 statements that he feels are lies that we believe about God. Some of them are right on the money, and cut me to my very core. Some others I had a hard time with, and ultimately disagreed with the statement. But I kind of love this about reading. It sharpens your critical reading and thinking skills. If you (like me and many others) were moved by The Shack, this book is worth the read. Feel free to wrestle with the author. The forward even invites you to do so.
