When a mystery writer cries bloody murder, everyone blames her over-active imaginationThriller scribe Sophie Katz is as hard-boiled as a woman who drinks grande caramel brownie frappuccinos can be—so she knows it's not paranoia, or post-divorce living-alone-again jitters, when she becomes convinced that a crazed reader is sneaking into her apartment to re-enact scenes from her books. Then a filmmaker friend is brutally murdered, in a manner taken from one of his movies, and Sophie becomes convinced that a copycat killer is on the looseIf she doesn't solve the mystery her own bestseller could spell her doom.Cursing her grisly imagination (why, oh, why did she have to pick the axe?) Sophie engages in some real-life detective work, stumbling upon a mysterious new love interest, Anatoly Darinsky, along the way.Of course, if this were fiction, Anatoly would be her prime suspect

Delightfully fun and quick read, this fast-paced mystery follows the harried life of novelist Sophie Katz. After completing her latest book, Sophie discovers she has picked up a stalker. A couple murders that touch the fringe of her circle convince her the acts are copies of those described in her books. The police believe she is a nut job with an over-active imagination, forcing her and her band of merry friends to track down the killer themselves. The characters are quite stereotypical, but add a great touch of hilarity to the story. Definitely a romantic mystery and chick-lit rolled into one.

In reference to the professional reviews, is it possible to be 'half Jewish'? I thought Judaism was a religion, not a race. I had one Catholic parent and one Protestant (of course the latter had to take classes and abjectly renounce his own heritage, which I thought unfair) but I don't think of myself as half Catholic or Protestant...probably wholly heathen!

Sophie Katz started writing murder mysteries as a way to work through some issues arising from her divorce and watched it evolve into a nice living. She is even developing a screenplay for her latest novel, that is until the producer is found dead in his bathtub, Police believe it is a suicide, but Sophie isn't so sure.

Sophie's life gets even weirder when scenes from one of her novels are staged by a stalker. The cops thinks she crazy or guilty of the crimes herself. So she has to figure out who is behind all this before she ends up the victim of a murder plot she thought up.

Author Kyra Davis has created a funny, chick-lit murder mystery with a smart, if sometimes hapless, heroine. There are also plenty of quirky characters and a little romance, making this a good bet for the Stephanie Plum crowd.

I love this series so much I find it hard to put the books down and end up staying awake until the wee hours of the morning reading. An awesome read.

Sex, Murder and a Double Latte was so fun to read that I stayed awake until the wee hours of the night to finish it. This book is suspenseful, chic, fun and very funny. The story is also quite engaging. Sophie Katz is a bestseller mystery writer going through the unthinkable -- someone is stalking her, playing out scenes from one of her book. It was fun to read Sophie playing the amateur sleuth not unlike the heroines in her novels. It was fun to read Sophie playing the amateur sleuth not unlike the heroines in her novels.
If you enjoy humorous, light mysteries complete with a heroine that's full of spunk and snappy comebacks, and who possesses a group of loyal and courageous friends, you're bound to enjoy "Sex, Murder and a Double Latte." (This novel is especially bound to appeal to readers who enjoy a dollop of romance to their mysteries as well.) The mystery subplot premise was a very good one and was full of promise. Very enjoyable read.
