It wasn't that interesting to me because it was confusing.

This is an awesome series and it appeals to a wide range of ages. I started off reading the series when I was 27 and within 10 years four of my children have read it ranging in age (at the time) from 10 to 16.
At the moment my 40 y/o husband, who only started liking fantasy after reading Harry Potter, is now just starting keys to the demon prison- book 5 and he's hooked!
I'm anxiously awaiting the release of book 3 to Dragonwatch which is "a Fablehaven adventure" and follows Kendra and Seth on many more adventures!

If you love Harry Potter, I'm a potterhead myself, you're sure to love this one as well. It's full of magic and mystery, mischief, suspense and a little romance even! There's faries, demons, dragons, wizards, unicorns, goblins, witches, Astrids, zombies, blixes, golums... oh can't leave out Newel and Doren, the satirical satyrs... This list goes on, you name it they've probably touched on it at some point.

This series is full of adventure!
I'd say it's best suited for teens/young adult readers but I'm "oldish" (haha) and re-reading the series for the 2nd time and enjoying it just as much as the first!

Magical creatures, kids, grandparents, and a woman with an intriguing past come together to do their best to save Fablehaven from the evil that tries to learn its secrets and destroy it. I am curious about what happens next and will be reading more of this 6-book series from Brandon Mull!

I love this book! It is so creative, fast paced, and perfect for any young fantasy reader. I would also recommend The Candy Shop War I & II by the same author.

I'm confused as to who the audience is supposed to be for this book. The main characters are pre-teens, they are the heroes, and the plot and world are entirely middle-grade. However, the way the characters talk, the manner the author describes things, and the dark themes lend themselves more towards YA or even adult. I read this with my 11 year old, and although he understood the majority of the descriptions, there were times we did need to stop and talk about what the words meant and what was happening. There were certain parts that were super cheesy and expected for a middle-grade fantasy- the kids doing stupid things to advance the plot, the adult characters treating them like kids even though they are super heroes in disguise completely capable of saving the day, awkward moments that give you second hand cringe, random characters and creatures that want to help the main characters win just because... If I had not been reading this with my son, I probably would have DNF'd this about 50 pages in. It didn't hold my interest and I could see where the plot was going.
Otherwise, the world was well done, the variety and number of creatures and characters were plentiful, the exposition was handled well, the descriptions were adequate for an older reader, and I can certainly see how this would become a longer series- it lends itself to continuing nicely.

Fablehaven is a great book. I like how we get to see how you can get through difficult situations by on your own, even when everything seems to go wrong. The description of the fairies made them seem really beautiful. Overall, it was a really good book.

I didn't expect this book to be as good as everyone says it is, but honestly, Fablehaven was actually very good and it left me excited to continue reading the series.
I think that this book was very creative and hilarious and for the most part, I think it flowed very nicely.

While Brandon Mull is not J.K.Rowling in talent, the story is very Harry Potter like, children battling to save the magical world from the evil society. They were mildly interesting.

"Remember how worried you were when we dropped you off?" Mom said as she buckled her seatbelt. "I bet it wasn't half as scary as you imagined."
Kendra and Seth shared a very special look.
