The Tide Lords have gathered in Jelidia and learn that in order for Cayal to die, they must open a rift to another world. Before they can do this, however, they must find the Chaos Crystal that brought them to this world. As they set off in search of it, they head to Glaeba, where Arkady has been captured by one of the Tide Lords, Jaxyn. Managing to escape, she flees to the city of Caelum to find her husband, Stellan. Instead, she runs into the Scard Crasii, Warlock, and learns that Elyssa, Warlock's cruel immortal mistress, knows the location of the invaluable Chaos Crystal. With every immortal on Amyrantha searching for the crystal, the stakes are very high. But if they do manage to open a rift where will it take the survivors?

The first three books were so good that I expected this one to continue int their vein, but unfortunately it did not. The best feature of the first three was the interaction between the characters, but *spoilers*....not only did Fallon kill off most of the characters, she completely throws their interactions out the window. Completely disappointing ending to what could have been an otherwise gem of a Fantasy series.

it wasn't as good as the first three books.

Much as I have greatly enjoyed Fallon's previous series and even the first three books in the Tide Lords I found this book disappointing. It got really weird at the end and though it looks as if it might be continuing the series but I'm not sure if I want to read on. Too many of the charaters have benn eliminated.
